چکیده

Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate a new continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) prediction equation compare it with other formulas.Material Methods: We retrospectively included patients obstructive sleep apnea who underwent CPAP titration between January 2012 December 2016. All clinical polysomnographic data were collected. The was developed using the first set, predictability performance validated second set. Results: Among 266 enrolled patients, 73.7% male, mean body mass index (BMI) 30.8±7.4 kg/m2 . Five variables, namely age, BMI, neck circumference (NC), apnea–hypopnea (AHI), minimum pulse oxygen saturation (Min SpO2 ), highly correlated optimal pressure, therefore in equation, as stated below:Predicted (cm H2 O) = 2.26 + (0.02xAge) (0.04xBMI) (0.11xNC) (0.04xAHI) - (0.04xMin )This accounted for 54.4% of variance predicting (R2 =0.544, p-value <0.001). Its estimation 62.0% group. equation-derived predicted good agreement laboratory-derived (r=0.70, 95% CI=0.6335–0.755, p-value<0.001) according Bland–Altman analysis. Conclusion: Our is consistent fixed thereby beneficial technicians establishing starting such studies at laboratory.

Factors Affecting Patients’ Adherence to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Disorder: A Multi-Method Approach

Background: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard therapy for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) disorder. However, patients’ adherence to its regular use is poor. The present study aimed to determine the adherence rate to CPAP therapy by identifying factors affecting its regular use and its associated problems and discomforts among a sample population in Mashhad (...

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure for Adults with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

www.thoracic.org C LI P A N D C O P Y OSA patients wake up often throughout the night (although they may not remember doing so) and thus can be very tired during the daytime. In addition, each stoppage in breathing can lead to falls in oxygen level and a stress release of adrenaline, both of which can contribute to high blood pressure and put a strain on the heart. Left untreated, this situatio...

Optimal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Level in Korean Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate optimal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) level, to examine the factors affecting optimal CPAP level, and to develop a predictive equation for optimal CPAP level in Korean patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). METHODS A total of 202 patients with OSAS who underwent successful manual titration for CPAP treatment were...

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Adherence for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Objective. To determine predictors of patient adherence to CPAP. Design. A retrospective chart review identified patients with AHI values greater than 15 who were recommended to receive CPAP. Compliance was measured at a 1-to 4-month interval and at 1 year. Results. There were 106 of 368 (29%) patients who received CPAP therapy that were compliant with CPAP use at 1 to 4 months. Forty-six patie...

Should sleep laboratories have their own predictive formulas for continuous positive airway pressure for patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome?

BACKGROUND Several formulas predicting optimal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for obstructive sleep apnea treatment have been developed and diverse parameters selected as predictive factors in different sleep laboratories using different ethnic groups. This study aimed to validate a constructed predictive formula for the study laboratory and to test the hypothesis that sleep laborat...
